Canton Community Nursery School was chartered in 1969 by a group of enthusiastic Canton residents to provide a quality preschool program for area children ages three and four.  We are proud to be a non-profit organization that is able to thrive with the support of the wonderful families and friends of our students.

Canton Community Nursery School is a cooperative venture.  We actively encourage parental involvement.  It is what makes our program strong and allows you as parents to be directly involved in your child's early learning experiences.  The success of the program is tied to cooperation between home and school.  A parent helper aids the staff in the classroom each day.  This unique experience allows parents to observe their child as they interact with peers and staff, and see first hand what makes these first school experiences so special to your child.  Furthermore, parents are encouraged to share their time, talents, and enthusiasm to whatever degree they feel comfortable.

The school is governed by a Board of Directors and is staffed with qualified professionals.The Board of Directors, which handles the business and administrative duties of the school, is made up of the director, the staff, and parent volunteers.

We welcome students from all area towns.  We have alumni from Avon, Barkhamsted, Burlington, Canton, East Hartland, Granby, New Hartford, Simsbury and Winsted.

We know that for most children entering CCNS this is their first time being away from you and their home.  Our goal is to help prepare your child for their future role as a "life-long learner."  Together we can provide a fun, loving, nurturing program that will foster love of their world while helping to prepare them for the future.

School is an integral part of all our lives.  We celebrate diversity and provide an atmosphere where cooperation, sharing, and sensitivity flourish.  Together we can work to give your child a memorable start.
